About Us
Our history
The Hartford Public Schools Foundation for Quality Education is a brainchild of the former School Board President, Gerald Lutz. His vision was to augment and improve educational possibilities for students in Hartford Public Schools. This goal is achieved through private contributions, which allow the Foundation to back the creation of enrichment programs and services that often fall outside the scope of dwindling school budgets. These additional educational opportunities, such as yearly scholarships and grants for both teachers and students, transform a good school system into an exceptional one.

To acquire and distribute resources to the Hartford Public Schools for programs and projects enhancing learning opportunities for students, staff and community.
About Us
Established in 1998 as an autonomous, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Foundation operates under the guidance of a Board of Trustees. These trustees, all volunteers from the private sector, are dedicated to raising and fairly distributing substantial financial resources to the school district. The Foundation's investments are overseen in association with the Berrien Community Foundation, an organization known for its proficient conservative fund growth strategies, benefiting numerous foundations in SW Michigan.
Contributions to the Foundation are eligible for tax deductions.
